This stewardship campaign is for the salary and expenses of the "Pastor to Families with Youth" staff position. Special funds above the present level of tithes and offerings are needed to maintain this crucial ministry. Pastor Gary Larson is presently ministering to more than fifty teens and their families through the NYI, GRAVY, and young families Bible Fellowship Class. Many of our teens are involved in the ministries of the church through his leadership.
What kind of teenagers are we creating? Our young people are being bombarded with negative messages on how they should live their lives. Messages of violence, premarital sex, alcohol and tobacco, not to mention the obscenities in many lyrics of the songs marketed to teenagers. When our teens seem to be moving in the wrong direction, and we complain about the marketing to our kids, we’re told, "You should have raised your kid better". But it’s almost like we are visiting the Hoover dam and it breaks and sweeps our kids down the river. When we complain that the rushing river swept our kids away, we’re told,"You should have taught your kids to swim better". Somehow we have to give our teenagers a fighting chance. What will it take? A Battle Plan! Gary Larson has a call on his life to minister to young people. We have seen his passion and his desire to reach and train young people for Jesus Christ. The leaders of PCN want to keep Gary on as a full-time staff member. Have you ever thought, "Somebody should do something about those kids?" Will you help financially? What will the money be used for? We have put a plan together to make this happen on a budget of $50,000.Salary; $25,000Housing and Transportation $12,000Medical Insurance $6,000NYI (GRAVY) Ministry expenses $7,000Total: $50,000 Where will the money come from? On August 13, 2006 we will be receiving a special "Believe in the Future" offering. Our goal is to raise $10,000 on that day. We will also be asking for pledges to be received monthly. This would be a commitment for six months. Sunday nights at GRAVY we will be asking our young people to give for this purpose, as it will directly affect them. We have a "Believe in the Future" plan for our youth to participate in the vision and the budget. We will be challenging them to commit to give $5.00 a week for one year. As our group grows, so will the budget. |
